3 Ways to Vote
3 Ways to Vote
1. Vote by Mail or in our Office
Voters may receive and vote their ballot as early as 29 days prior to an election.
29 days before each election, the Butte County Elections Office opens as a polling place. The office is located in the Hall of Records at 155 Nelson Ave., Oroville. Office hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
Voters may pick up their ballot and take it with them to vote at home or they may vote their ballot in the office and drop it in the ballot box.
Voters may also request a ballot be mailed to them. They may also request a ballot be mailed to them for all future elections. Download a Vote by Mail Application.
United States citizens residing overseas and military personnel and their eligible spouses and dependents may obtain a ballot as early as 60 days before the election; ask your commanding officer or download the Federal Post Card Application.
RETURN YOUR VOTE BY MAIL BALLOT as early as possible!! You may return your voted ballot in any of the following methods:
- By mail, but allow enough time to ensure delivery before election day (Postmarks do not count)
- In person to the Butte County Elections Office
- In person to any Butte County polling place on election day
2. Saturday Voting
Saturday voting is only available during "statewide" elections and only on the Saturday just before election day (three days before the election). The Butte County Elections Office is open the Saturday before election day from 9am to 4pm.
3. Vote at Your Polling Place
Polls open on election day at 7am and close at 8pm.
YOUR POLLING PLACE MAY HAVE CHANGED from where you voted in the last election. Your polling place is listed on the back of your Sample Ballot and Voter Information Booklet and this is the only polling place location that will have your name on their roster of voters. If you have misplaced your booklet, you can use the Polling Place Lookup on our home page.
If your precinct is a mail ballot precinct, there are 250 or less voters in your area so you will automatically be mailed a ballot.
