Death Certificates

Death certificates are available for deaths occurring in Butte County.

The fee for a certified copy of a death certificate is $21.00. You may order a copy of a death certificate by one of the following:


  • Fill out your application online, then appear at the Clerk-Recorders Office within 10 working days, at 155 Nelson Ave., Oroville, with valid ID. You will receive the certified copy at that time.
  • Coming into the office at 155 Nelson Ave., Oroville. The process takes approximately 10-15 minutes. You will receive the certified copy at that time.
  • Mail the completed applications and the $21.00 fee to:

  • Order on-line through the VitalChek Network.
