The Butte County Clerk-Recorder's Office is a passport acceptance agent. We will accept and verify all the necessary information and documents and forward them to the passport agency. You will receive your passport directly from the Passport Agency
Applications are available in person at our office or on the web at: US Department of State
The hours of passport application processing is 9:00am to 4:00pm.
Information required to apply for passport:

- Name of applicant
- Mailing address
- Date of birth/place of birth/sex
- Social security number
- Height (feet and inches)
- Description (color of hair, eyes, etc.)
- Telephone numbers
- Permanent address
- Occupation
- Birth date and birth place of applicant's parents
- Travel plans, if any
- Marriage Information
- Other names previously used
You will also need to include the following with your application:
- Two (2) identical passport photos (2" x 2" size)
- Certified copy of birth certificate issued by county/state, or original certificate of naturalization/citizenship (the original will be returned to you along with your passport
- A check or money order payable to Department of State for $ 75.00. If the person is a minor (14 Years or younger), the fee is $ 60.00.
- Valid picture identification
- A separate check, money order, or cash for $ 30.00 payable to the Butte County Clerk-Recorder
